Recent Songs prior to death
For the purposose of sharing with YOU, Miriam Stampfer created 2 CDs from 1981 tapes recorded of New York’s, JEFF OBOLER (Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen) singing with Acquarian Minyan at Barry and Debbie Barkan’s home, Berkeley, Sept. 8, 1981. With chesed, Miriam snail mailed to me the 2 mp3 CDs filled with 30+31=61 songs sung by Reb Yosef. Reuven Goldfarb made the original cassette recordings. You can hear Yehudit and Reuven’s baby son Elishama singing in the background. THANK YOU to all.
I downloaded the 2 CDs into iMac’s iTunes and named each individual song track in each category for Reb Yosef Ben Shlomo Hakohen, formerly Jeff Oboler. (Learning all this tech process for the first time in my life.) I then downloaded 61 iTunes tracks into iMac’s Garage Band (also new to me). I joined / spliced together several melodies / loops at a time totalling about 20 minutes in each grouping.
Because of Tumblr mp3 size limit (and Tumblr rejecting my initial downloads of 30 tracks that I had very slowly and carefully spliced together), I re-spliced again from the beginning, and downloaded only several songs at a time into iTunes. In Tumblr there is a limit up to only 10 MBs allowed only each day. Each CD post is about 20 minutes. (In my initial download of single “Modeh Ani” I needed to convert niggun to an mp3 and splice the loop to delete another singer at front end.)
There are now 11 separate POSTS filled with the 61 niggunim from 2CDs (1981), older individual songs from Jeff, and more Yosef posts from recent years that I am trying to collect.
If you have a better SYSTEM, please advice me. I intend to use this tumblr site only for Yosef’s music.
If you have YOSEF’S (more recent) MUSIC HE PERSONALLY RECORDED (when he had “strength”) and sent out to chevre toward the last years of his life, please forward to me for inclusion.
I have shared this new Tumblr site link of this music within the Reb Yosef site I created when Reb Yosef returned his neshama to The Compassionate One on 27 Elul, 5771. (In this first year following death, I continue to say Kaddish for my beloved rebbe.)
YOU are invited to share your memories with chevre on the blogspot site. Write to me there in Comment, or personally to me.
Chevre, if you can IDENTITY & TRANSCRIBE any of the track’s information, i.e. NAME of track, who composed, when, etc., please do and send to me and I’ll post details. THANK YOU.
BlesSings to sing and share the niggunim in the zechut of our teachers.
